If you have a pet and are a low-income Wichita resident, you may qualify to have your pet spayed or neutered for free.  Thanks to $55,000 in federal stimulus money, the City of Wichita is able to offer the program.   Community partners include the Kansas Humane Society and Spay-Neuter Kansas.

What’s Included?

Pet owners who qualify will receive free spay/neutering services for their pets.  They will also receive a free rabies vaccination and micro-chipping.  Owners will also receive a free pet license for a year. 

Who Qualifies?

This is a program for low-income residents.  Your yearly family household income cannot exceed the following:

1 person in family   -  $21,660
2 persons in family -  $29,140
3 persons in family -  $36,620
4 persons in family -  $44,100
5 persons in family -  $51,580
6 persons in family -  $59,060
7 persons in family -  $66,540
8 persons in family -  $74,020

For families with more than 8 people, add $1870 for each additional person.

*Please bring proof of your current address (i.e. water bill)
*Social security number and date of birth for everyone in your household
*Proof of last 3 months of income (pay stub, bank statement, social security statement, etc.)

To Sign Up:

In order to be included in the program, please attend a one hour session to learn about the program and complete the application process.  Pet owners will be approved the same day.

The city is offering two sessions.

*Remember, Wichita City Ordinance requires all pit bulls to be spayed/neutered and microchipped by January 2010.  Owners who are not in compliance will be fined.
